We suspended all accounts for approximately 15-30 minutes whilst we applied an important securiy update to the MySQL service. Whilst the update was being applied, the mysqld service on the web server had to be stopped. We could then apply the updates and repair the tables.
This has been applied, and the update has now completed. Your sites are back online.
We do apologise for the lack of communication prior to suspension, but a vulnerability in the version of mysql running on our servers left them open to attack, and hence could of meant future outages. We wanted to avoid this, and therefore acted on it as soon as possible.
We tried to apply a user-friendly "we're making changes" messages to as many websites as we could. Custom reseller suspension pages however may of overwrote this for reseller accounts.
Tomorrow morning at 06:00 AM we will be moving the majority of sites into our UK network. We've already lowered the 'TTL' values for all our DNS zones, and therefore the downtime to all websites will be seconds, and not noticeable to any visitors. After this, your websites will be hosted in the UK, with no additional charge to yourself. To confirm, we expect this change to have no noticeable effect to your websites, but as always, should be considered an "At Risk" period.
As the domain who's these nameserves are registered under, we are unable to make an modification to your name server records at the registry. We ask you to contact your registry, and ask them to update your name server IP's to:
NS1.SOTASERVERS.COM => 78.129.242.170
NS2.SOTASERVERS.COM => 109.74.198.140
The new DNS servers we have setup will mean increased redundancy to our hosting network! After several weeks of testing, we're proud to see this system go live. Please update your name server values as soon as possible. We will take care of all your DNS records within our system.
